This two-volume resource contains eight modules draws together international human rights law and illustrative examples from various jurisdictions as the basis for developing a legal framework to respect, protect and fulfill women’s rights in the context of HIV and AIDS. It is intended as a tool to assist human rights advocates and policy-makers as they reform or develop laws to meet the legal challenges posed by the HIV epidemic. "This paper offers a critical discussion of the goodness of fit between professional motives and community needs in the field of community-based rehabilitation (CBR). Data were drawn from the authors’ involvement in a survey of occupational therapists involved in CBR and a search of CINAHL, PsychInfo and Medline online databases for related descriptive and analytical articles. Due to cultural differences and time constraints CBR professionals often are, and remain, ‘outsiders’ to the community they are working with. The focus of CBR is sometimes uncertain. Professional motives do not always meet community needs and good intentions do not necessarily transpire into sustainable, culturally appropriate action. The involvement of the community in all stages of programme development and implementation is important both to ensure relevancy and build alliances with the community. CBR needs to be approached and evaluated as a unique area of professional practice"

This Guide has been developed in conjunction with the Training Manual to support a four-day training course on Mainstreaming Disability in Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR). The Training Manual and the Facilitator’s Guide provide trainers, project officers and field level practitioners with the resources to make DRR disability inclusive. This resource also provides information to managers and policy makers in government and non-government organisations to address the inclusion of disability issues in CBDRR. It is designed to be used as a tool to conduct trainings and to support work with community groups and other stakeholders

The Facilitator’s Guide elaborates upon the Training Manual by detailing a step-by-step training methodology for the topics addressed in the course. Each topic in the Guide includes: Learning objectives, key messages, key steps and a process outline, suggested session times, materials needed and additional resources and materials to supplement learning. The Facilitator's Guide provides a broad outline to the training through the topics, and trainers may adapt and modify the session plans to the particular circumstances of the training - further tips for trainers have been provided in the annex of the Guide

This report is part of a comprehensive project to develop international systems and methodologies for monitoring the human rights of people with disabilities. It represents the second phase of the Disability Rights Promotion International (DRPI) project, the specific aim of which, is to develop capacity building tools and resources to enable people with disabilities to effectively monitor systems, individual experiences and media. This work would be useful to anyone with an interest in human rights, disability and development and the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
