Asia Education Summit on Flexible Learning Strategies for Out-of-School Children

The Asia Education Summit on Flexible Learning Strategies for Out-of-School Children (24-26 February 2016) brought more than 550 education and learning colleagues from across the Asian Region and world to Bangkok, Thailand. The Summit welcomed 121 speakers and over 100 government officials. More than two-thirds of the Summit’s participants were NGO representatives and educators in the region who were, and currently are working “on the ground” in efforts with and for out-of-school children (OOSC).  This report aims to highlight and give voice to the unique innovative initiatives and flexible learning strategies shared during the course of this three-day summit. Each presentation summary in this report is intended to stand alone, while contributing to the collaborative nature and understanding of the innovations and FLS for OOSC presented. Presentations inlcuded "Sustainable and Innovative Financing for Disabled and Disadvantaged OOSC in Thailand: Mae Hong Son Model"

This report of a study completed by the ILO in Malawi, South Africa and Zambia, examines access for persons with disabilities to acquire training and obtain employment. The study finds that if given opportunities to learn new skills, persons with disabilities are equally as likely to contribute to society and the overall economy as non-disabled persons. Recommendations are provided for government and non-government organisations. This report would be useful for governments, NGOs and practitioners interested in strategies for skills acquisition and work for persons with disabilities in southern Africa

Developing entrepreneurship among women with disabilities in Ethiopia

This report highlights a project implemented in Ethiopia that supported entrepreneurship among women with disabilities. It highlights exploratory surveys in the city of Addis Ababa and the rural Tigray region. The project successfully promoted economic empowerment among women with disabilities and women with disabled dependants, through partnerships with local NGOs of persons with disability. Case studies are presented, as well as tables and graphs to support the successful results. This report would be useful for people interested in entrepreneurship among women with disabilities in Ethiopia

Human rights of persons with intellectual disability : country report Czech Republic

This country report is one of the main outcomes of an Inclusion Europe project which was conducted in partnership with 8 local organisations of people with intellectual disability. Each chapter in the report describes the legislation, government policy, statistical info, views of NGOs and reactions of persons with intellectual disability and their parents on the subjects. The report also looks at the situation surrounding : awareness of the general public, employment, treatment and residential institutions
