The Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) is an independent centre of knowledge and expertise in the areas of international and intercultural cooperation. The aims of KIT are to contribute to sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and cultural preservation and exchange. Within the Netherlands, it seeks to promote interest in and support for these issues. KIT's goals are to maximise access to good quality health care in low and middle income countries; promote awareness through theatre, print publications, information dissemination and workshops; and to provide training in the Netherlands and abroad. KIT’s wide range of health-related activities are carried out by staff in the departments of Development Policy and Practice, Biomedical Research, Information and Library Services, KIT Publishers, Tropenmuseum and Tropentheater.
KIT is a core member of Share-Net, the Netherlands Network on Sexual & Reproductive Health and AIDS. Share-Net seeks to contribute to improving the international sexual and reproductive health and rights situation as well as the HIV/AIDS situation, guided by principles of human rights, equity and equality and empowerment. AMREF aims to improve the health of disadvantaged people in Africa, improve the quality of their lives and reduce poverty. It focuses on six priority intervention areas: HIV/AIDS, TB and Sexually Transmitted Diseases; Malaria; Safe Water and Basic Sanitation; Family Health; Clinical Services, Disaster Management and Emergency Response; and Training and Health Learning Materials. The name Kondwa means "Be Happy." Kondwa is a day center, whose mission is to give hope to the lives of orphaned children in one of the most deprived areas of Lusaka, Zambia in Africa. Children from the ages of 3-9 years old, who have lost one or both parents, mostly to AIDS or HIV related disease, are provided with education, food, medical attention and love. Children in counseling workshops are encouraged to tell their stories and recount their memories. The process of remembering helps children to deal with loss, grief and transition. The center provides for the psycho-social and material needs of more than 90 children

To provide information, education and wholesome entertainment primarily to Indian citizens and to non-resident Indians. In a specially created division, Development Communication Division, this is a successful and sustainable model of secured funding for research-based and impact-oriented public service broadcasting by creating partnerships with ministries and departments of Government of India, UN agencies,other broadcasters, international and national NGOs. While creating communication interventions through such projects, this is a pioneering initiative in public-private partnership established with people at grassroots. Without any funding or support from government or non-governemnt agencies, Over 58000 volunteers in over 2400 Kalyani health clubs remain motivated through a TV programme called KALYANI to create awareness, organise cleanliness drives, blood and eye donations,health camps, promote sanitation and institutional deliveries, and feel empowered enough to seek better health services from the government via complaints to Kalyani
