THET assists those who are responsible for training health care workers in the poorer countries of the world to reach their goals, so that they are able to prepare those who are being trained in the most appropriate and effective way for the tasks that they will be called to do, relevant to the needs of local communities. THET works with institutions and does not respond to individual applications for help. Much of the work of the Trust is to enable individuals to reach their goals set for them in the context of their home University or other instituation. To work with partners in Africa to strengthen healthcare training. By responding to their needs and working over long time scales we aim to help our partners to achieve their goals. Our work builds on the existing infrastructure and compliments the efforts of health authorities. We have been established for 15 years and have long term relationships with health institutions and professionals in over 8 african countries and with more than 18 UK hospital trusts.

The Minority Rights Group works to secure the rights of ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities and indigenous peoples worldwide and to promote co-operation and understanding between communities. It does this through publishing reports and training manuals, working with partners on training events and maintaining a presence at international forums. It promotes the active participation of minorities and indigenous peoples in decisions affecting their lives, promotes the implementation of international standards, develops conflict resolution and reconciliation initiatives and advocates the needs for mainstreaming minority rights in development policies. Minority Rights Group International is a significant organisation in the field of cultural diversity. It also places a strong emphasis on gender issues, and some of the publications give a brief reference to issues that impact early childhood development, such as lack of access to health services for certain indigenous groups (though there is no specific programme on early childhood development). The resource centre is not open to the public

The International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) assists developing countries to realise locally owned sustainable development by harnessing the potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs). IICD works with its partner organisations in selected countries, helping local stakeholders to assess the potential uses of ICTs in development. It also strengthens the capacities of local partners to formulate, implement and manage development policies and projects that make use of ICTs. IICD's philosophy is that ICTs are tools that can contribute to sustainable development and poverty alleviation. However, this only applies when ICTs are supporting existing development activities. CIET is an international group of professionals from a variety of disciplines, including epidemiology, medicine, planning, communications and other social sciences, who bring scientific research methods to community levels. By involving people at these levels in information gathering and analysis, CIET helps them to participate, in an increasingly informed way, in decisions that affect their lives. The Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) is a partnership between African ministers of education and their international partners. It provides a platform for exchange and dialogue on issues that affect the development of education in Africa. Much of ADEA’s work is carried out through a number of working groups formed round these issues. The Working group on Early Childhood Development (WGECD) was set up in 1996 with the aim of encouraging and supporting national governments in Africa to commit to and invest in ECD. The WGECD organised the conference on early childhood development in Accra in Ghana in 2005, entitled ' to advance the development of early childhood in Africa'. The main goals were to (i) ensure effective caring practices within the family and the community, (ii) ensure access to quality basic services and (iii) ensure a supportive policy environment

The Early Learning Resource Unit (ELRU) is an organisation based in South Africa working in the field of early childhood development. The aim of the website is to provide a virtual overview of the organisation and act as an online resource base of information regarding early childhood development. ELRU seeks to build on existing knowledge and skills, promote and provide access to knowledge and skills, affirm and harness the potential of diversity and support those working with young children. It does this through a series of programmes based around inclusion and diversity training, HIV/AIDS strategies, and leadership in early childhood development training. ELRU has had an incalculable influence on pre-school education in South Africa, with virtually all para-professional training either being based on ELRU materials and methods, or being heavily influenced by them. ELRU offers support to educators and others involved in post-apartheid transformation so that they are able to influence and promote change in practical ways. The anti-bias work challenges beliefs, attitudes, behaviours and social and institutional practices which are oppressive. ELRU addresses HIV/AIDS through providing training to parents and teachers, in both urban and rural settings, about the vulnerability of young children and the effects of HIV/AIDS on them and their families. They say that early childhood development (ECD) work provides a logical framework to strengthen and sustain families and projects

Amani ECCD advocates for and facilitates integrated, multisectoral approaches to supporting women, families, carers, educators and communities, in their roles of nurturing Tanzania's socially and economically disadvantaged young children. ECDVU's mission is to further develop African Early Childhood Development (ECD) leadership capacity as a key strategy in support of child, family and community well-being and broader social and economic development. The ECDVU is an innovative and multi-faceted approach to addressing ECD leadership needs in Africa. It is a training and capacity building program for ECD, using face-to-face and distance learning methods. These include two to three-week seminars, web-based learning, video-conferencing, and a "community of learners" strategy within cohort countries. Unlike most academic programs, candidates for the ECDVU are not solely self-selected. Instead, the names of ECDVU candidates emerge from an in-country process that brings together an inter-sectoral ECD "committee" to identify significant early childhood goals for the country in the years ahead. In light of these goals, the committee members then select from among interested applicants three or four of the most suitable ECD leaders to be forwarded as their "national candidates" for participation in the ECDVU

Persona Dolls provide an effective, non-threatening and enjoyable way to raise equality issues and counter stereotypical and discriminatory thinking with students, early years practitioners and young children. The dolls and their stories are powerful tools for exploring, uncovering and confronting bias. They help children to express their feelings and ideas, think critically, challenge unfair treatment and develop empathy with people who are different to themselves. The Persona Doll training programme is designed to provide 'hands-on' experience in using the dolls, raise awareness and offer opportunities for reflection and discussion of issues including racism, gender, disability, health, culture, religious and other equality issues. An example of a recently developed training pack is one entitled: ‘citizenship for all: respect, rights and responsibilities’
