The Population Council conducts research in over 50 countries to address critical health and development issues. Their work allows couples to plan their families and chart their futures. They help people avoid HIV infection and access life-saving HIV services. They also empower girls to protect themselves and have a say in their own lives.

The Council's capabilities include:

IMPLEMENTATION SCIENCE to identify service-delivery challenges and test solutions that improve family planning, reproductive health, HIV and AIDS services, and programs for adolescent girls;

The Secretariat of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues works to promote and support the mandate of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and the implementation of the Forum's recommendations. It is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council and was established in 2000. It meets annually for ten days and most recently focusing on 'the millennium development goals and indigenous peoples: redefining the millennium development goals'. It also holds workshops bringing together experts on indigenous issues. The main issues that the Permanent Forum focuses on are: the millennium development goals, women and children and youth. It has also adopted a resolution promoting a second decade of the world's indigenous peoples (from January 2005 until January 2015)

We leverage the internet to enable local therapists in developing countries to provide clinically appropriate wheelchairs to children with disabilities. Specifically, we developed software which helps design and creates dimensioned drawings of custom wheelchairs based on parameters entered by local clinicians. Affordable Wheelchairs are designed specifically for the clinical needs of each user and are built in-country using locally available materials. An online database allows local therapists to upload photos and data from seating evaluations for review by experienced therapists for quality control and mentorship. We are interested in developing new partnerships
