Diversity in Early Childhood Education (DECET) is a network supported primarily by the Bernard Van Leer Foundation. It brings together a group of European organisations and projects with common goals about valuing diversity in early childhood education and training. The network aims at promoting and studying democratic child care, acknowledging the multiple (cultural and other) identities of children and families. The focus is on diversity and cultural identity within Europe to allow for a clear construction of European citizenship. There is no headquarters, but each of the current seven partners meet up for an annual conference. Each of the partners is also committed to contributing to one of the three workpacks they are producing on diversity in education. Michel Vandenbroeck is the workpack manager for 'Training for trainers – European training of trainers on equity and respect for diversity'. He is based at the Resource and Training Centre for Childcare in Ghent, Belgium. He has also written a publication for the Bernard Van Leer Foundation entitled 'The view of the Yeti - Bringing up children in the spirit of self-awareness and kindredship'
