About Source

Source is an International Online Resource Centre designed to strengthen the management, use and impact of information on disability and inclusion in development and humanitarian contexts. It is primarily intended for use by practitioners and academics.

International Online Resource Centre

Source provides free access to a unique online collection of information resources. These include

  • books  
  • journals    
  • manuals    
  • toolkits    
  • reports    
  • posters    
  • audiovisual materials    
  • websites and organisations.

Many materials are from developing countries and include both published and unpublished literature not readily available elsewhere.

The Source leaflet and A-Z keylists are available both online and in hard copies. Please share this information with your partners and networks, and contact Source if copies are needed to distribute at conferences, meetings and events.

Handicap International

The collection is managed by Handicap International. Co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Handicap International is an international aid organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, Handicap International takes action to raise awareness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.

Vision

Source is regularly reviewed in close partnership with expert organisations and individuals so that it offers up-to-date, relevant information. It offers a key point of access to free electronic, up-to-date, relevant information relating to disability and inclusion in development and humanitarian contexts. The underlying principle of Source is to promote the full participation people with disabilities in society.

Mission

Source's mission is to use available expertise to support the dissemination, repackaging and sharing of information on disability and inclusion in challenging contexts to support practitioners and promote research, innovation, learning and training as well as North-South organisational linkages.
